Damone “DeeWunn” Walker is a Jamaican-Canadian emcee, songwriter, and performer whose sound has been tagged as a Dancehall Revival from the greater Dancehall fraternity. Focussed on keeping his audience engaged, DeeWunn focuses on creating energetic bangers that are made specifically to keep them dancing.
Hailing from Spanish Town, Jamaica, DeeWunn migrated to Canada in 2015. Influenced by his father’s love of music, his dad encouraged him to play instruments and write songs when he was younger. During his teen years, he fell in love with Hip Hop and found himself among Jamaica’s first Rap Crew, the 13th Tribe. During this time, DeeWunn mastered his flow and delivery while learning the art of collaboration. He later joined Ward 21’s camp, Bada Bada Gang, where he joined the likes of Timberlee, Tifa, Marcy Chin, and Natalie Storm and further developed his sound as a Jamaican Deejay.
DeeWunn’s ultra-viral hit Mek It Bunx Up (2012) – produced by Ward 21’s Kunley McCarthy – has racked up over 250 million listens across streaming platforms. The song has lived many lives since its release, with new viral dance videos popping up across social media every other week and helped land him a feature on FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance. The record inspired the release of his debut album, BUNX UP, a showcase of DeeWunn’s best recordings from his time with Ward 21’s Camp. It compiles fan and DJ favourites, forming a versatile, fiery, lyrical and dance-able journey.
Between 2017 and 2019, DeeWunn spent a significant period touring across Europe. During this period, he released fan favourites Ribbibunx and Tun Suh, which helped garner interest from labels such as Sony UK’s ‘Ministry of Sound.’ In 2019, he signed with L.A based label Waxploitation.
DeeWunn is currently pushing the release of his sophomore album BANGGAZ. The album showcases his journey with Waxploitation and features his follow-up hit, Back It Up, Drop It (2019), produced by Brazil’s Leo Justi. With over 2 million streams, Back It Up, Drop It has garnered DeeWunn placements with Samsung, Fanta, SKII and Need For Speed: Heat. His song Bad Man Party (2023), self-produced, was also recently featured on the Canadian prime-time TV show Robyn Hood, directed by Director X.
